OAR: Another Successful Networking Event!

If you missed the latest networking event held on June 19th, don’t worry - you’re in the right place for the latest updates on the recent shenanigans.

This was our fourth successful networking event hosted by On a Roll Records. The goal of the networking event is to bring together local artistic talent in order to create meaningful connections within the music industry. The event featured local artists, creatives, vendors, and services who were eager and successful at making new connections. If you missed this event, don’t worry there will be many networking events in the future.

You can’t have a show without a host, and Da Angry Demon, also known as Jason from OAR’s “The Cosmic Cast” brought the energy, and kept the good vibes going. He announced amazing performances from immaculate artists. Headliner BeRosey, On a Roll’s up-and-coming artist performed a hand full of songs such as “Big Plans”, FAM-ILY (I love you), a crowd favourite, his latest one, “Transformers” and Moment. His talent? CRAZY. Stage Performance? Strong & Memorable. BeRosey made sure everyone was listening while making his rounds around the event, on and off the stage during his performance. He later announced the release of his music video “Don’t You” shot by Etienne de Durocher, off his upcoming album Burbalicious”.

That wasn’t the only impeccable performance. Charbel, stage name Chrbl, a Montreal-Beirut-based singer-songwriter and a new artist to the scene, took the stage with some great tracks like “Maybe There I’ll Find You”. He gave acoustic heartthrob vibes, and we are so excited to see what else he comes up with upon his first album release set to come out in late 2023.

We were blessed with fiery performances from Sir Louie the 3rd, and MakeWayStudio’s very own Budz whose staging made way for a lively atmosphere and brilliant creative talent. Sir Louie’s production and music were noteworthy. He stressed the importance of following your dreams and believing in yourself. This is something we can all route for when pursuing an occupation in the arts.

The vendors and services were the heart of the event. We had everything varying from clothing to tattoos. On the clothing side, we had Raw Cult who sold rad themes of clothing ranging from hats, to shirts, to sweaters. We had the pleasure of offering tattoo services from the lovely Ivelle Nightmare, who was voted the #3 best tattoo artist by Cult MTL, Best of MTL 2023! (Pg. 22) She brought unique designs and high energy to the event, which is so important. We were delighted to welcome a talented illustrator known as KassArtiste who sold adorable cartoon stickers, and drawings made by her. She also provided cutesy portraits for anybody who was willing – and we were willing! L’artiste Wolf also sold his ridiculously beautiful art during the show, while also showcasing his talent by live painting on site. We want to give a shoutout to Sarah Fefer who did live paintings by hand. Her art was colorful and remarkable.

Don’t get me started on the food. Shoutout to O four Express, a local Lebanese restaurant that provided chicken, falafel, and beef sandwiches throughout the event. The wraps were delicious, savory, and scrumptious. We’d also like to give a big shoutout to Ms. Thrifts Catering who provided homemade food for the OAR staff. The food was amazing, filling, and definitely a must-buy. Shoutout as well as to St Luke’s brewery. who provided locally made beer and seltzers. Fun fact: St Luke’s brewery was voted the #1 best beer in Montreal with their Amiral IPA by Cult MTL, Best of Montreal (pg.31).

The after-party was equally as yoked as the event itself. We had a couple of DJs who made the night! JP SIKIAS and Sebastian Delgado maintained the vibes with the insane mixing and the immaculate energy. JP provided upbeat music and insane transitions, leading me and a few of the girls to the middle of the dance floor.

Overall the turnout was amazing, and the people were great. We stress the importance of community and networking, and that’s why we have these events. This won’t be our last networking event as our next one will be held on August 19th, 2023.
