Tuggras

Tuggras is a talented artist and outstanding performer based in Montreal. Coming at you live from Negril, Imperial Heights and Montego Bay Jamaica, he brings an original and organic sound and delivers the best in Dancehall and Reggae music with a twist of hip-hop and trap influenced beats.

Having grown up around musicians for most of his childhood, Tuggras has long nurtured a love and passion for music. His official career as an artist started in 2008 inspired and driven by self-reflection, empathy and the freedom to express his views and beliefs through music.

His name, Tuggras, was given to him by a close friend during his time in Montego Bay. Tugg is short for thug due, to his thug-like personality and Ras is short for Rasta. To portray himself in a more positive manner and be a role model for his fans, he decided to remove the h from then ongoing by the name – Tuggras.

In search of better opportunities and musical exposure, Tuggras moved to Montreal, where he has been working hard and gaining popularity. Even though Tuggras may miss eating freshly-picked fruits off the trees, speaking Patois all day, and of course his family and childhood friends, he found the change of life easy and fell in love with Montreal and its people. Not only did he obtain an Associate Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, which he used to work in the entertainment business in Jamaica, Tuggras had a strong desire to contribute to his society. The humble artist took it upon himself to build the first public library available to his community in his hometown in Jamaica.

During his career, not only has he performed at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay and Jamaica Day 2018 at Parc Jean Drapeau, he also opened for some big acts and was even privileged enough to share the mic in a side-by-side performance with Vybez Kartel.

Tuggras has been working hard and has a handful of new tracks produced by Jay Century, Rene Garcia from The Brains, Fino and many more, ready for release.
