OAR: The Next Chapter

Le Symposium de L’Espoir, organized by Michel Dugas, is a fundraiser for the 3 main children’s hospitals in Montreal: Sainte-Justine Hospital, Montreal Children’s Hospital, and the Shriners Hospital for Children. This event took place on Saturday August 10th and Sunday August 11th at Soccerplexe Catalogna in Lachine, and featured over 90 artists from all over North America, including On a Roll Records very own Kristina Hansen and Ink Chemistry. Some of the other artists featured that weekend were Stephen Horik, Guylaine Tremblay, Rosalie Levi, Michel Dugas, and Malika Benladjreb. OARR was put in charge of putting together the entertainment section of the event and featured artists such as On a Roll Records Tuggras, MIC the Rapper and Sean Donnelly, and outside artists such as Roman Roses, Karianne Gilbert, Valerie Cormier, Madelline, and Donnie Brae and ThaNuNotes. The weekend also featured dance performances from Studio de Danse Imperium and Ambica Sharma from Naach Bollywood Dance Classes. Also part of the fundraiser, was a soccer tournament organized by Kids Playing for Kids.

Since this weekend, the busyness of the On a Roll Records family has not stopped. When one door closes another one opens they say. Well, quite literally in our case. OARR would like to proudly announce that we have officially moved offices. Now titled  “OAR HQ”, our new office building, which officially opened its doors on March 7th, 2020, is situated at 9095 Avenue du Parc. Now partnered with Makeway Studios, we are here to provide you with the best studio service in town. On top of our head office, and the best studio in town being found here, “OAR HQ” will also offer services such as The Photobox MTL, a creative space for rent with an available in-house photographer and videographer, Chris Brees (@CB43Media), and in-house tattoo artist and graphic designer, Randy Nixon (@InkChemistry). On top of all of these great services, we will also have art displayed from local artists such as Kristina Hansen, Ink Chemistry, and Andy Alain. Curious to find out how we can fit all of this in 1 space? Why not come down for a visit and find out yourself!

Along with the launch of our brand new office, come the launch of many brand new projects. One of them being the launch of our brand new online streaming channel, OARTV. This new platform will offer a wide variety of shows and podcasts covering all your favourite topics. Some examples of series are Boozy Beauties, Yo Bucketlist, Make the Plate, and Pods & Gods. So, tune in to find out what all these are about!

One of the first of these series to be launched is “Make the Plate”, hosted by the wonderful Nick Raz. The purpose of this web series is to ask a special fan to select 5 random ingredients for their favourite artist to cook into a meal that fits into 1 plate. At the end of the episode, this special fan will be invited up on set to taste the plate made by our special guest. Now, this can either go great, or it can go horribly wrong. For the sake of the people who have to eat the plate at the end of the episode, such as the lucky fan who submitted the 5 ingredients, I sure hope it goes wrong, oops, I mean great. So, stay tuned and watch the artists as they struggle to Make the Plate!

Another soon to be launched series is “Sounds of a Decade” which will be headlined by LouLou. On this show, our host Lou will invite a series of special guests who have been around in the music industry for around 10 years or so. This show is a great opportunity for all you up and coming artists and musicians to learn the do’s and don’ts of the industry!

What is on your bucket list? Or want to know what is on your favorite artists bucket list? Well then “Yo Bucket List” is the show for you. Our host, Blocka, will be going over your favorite artists and musicians bucket lists, dreams, and aspirations, as well as your fears and past accomplishments.

“On My Life”, a brand new video for Tuggras’s new song, released on September 30th and was produced by the great NuAge Films. The video features a slick black Porsche and a red and black tracksuit sponsored by Kuwalla Tee. This new hit will be Tuggras’s second video off his soon to be released album. The first being his single “Glory”.

While on the topic of Tuggras, his debut album “Roadside” to be released soon, and was produced by the one and only Parafino. The title “Roadside” was chosen because just like a roadside, life can be seen from different angles; lit, smooth, and a properly paved path, or dark, rough, and a rugged journey full of ups and downs with lots of signs. But at the end of the day, no matter the path, there will still be obstacles along the way that need to be overcome. Inspirations for this new album come from not only Tuggras but also from the creative minds that help put this album together. With the help of crazy late night sessions, Tuggras enjoyed being able to mirror his surroundings based on everyday sights among his friends and family that helped create the mold for what soon became “Roadside”. His new album will feature a different feel than his other music. This new sound will feature traphall and hip hop mixed in with authentic dancehall and reggae. Through “Roadside”, Tuggras will express a series of memories, emotions, and visualizations of his life experiences.

All the way from across the ocean, Lutz-Rainer Büttner, or ProdsByLou, is a German DJ and producer from Dessau who is a brand new addition to the On a Roll Records family. With 2 years of production experience, music has always played an important part of the young DJ’s life. His inspiration is found mainly within his past of listening to hip hop and electro/house. Coming from a small city, people are not very open minded to his type of music, but Lou hopes to be able to take the opportunity and show everyone what music can become.

Also new to the On a Roll Records family is Alicia Balfour, otherwise known as B4 Ali. The female rapper from Toronto creates her songs using her past experiences with drug usage and her open sexuality. In her spare time, Ali is a photographer, eyelash technician, and makeup artist who has recently scored a job as one of Cardi B’s sister, Hennessy Carolina’s go to Montreal makeup artists.

With the On a Roll Records family growing by the minute, we would also like to welcome our newest member, Dino Luciano, aka BBDŌLL. For those of you who think you have gone crazy and know you know Dino from somewhere, fear not you are correct. On top of being a rapper, Dino is the 2017 winner of world famous cooking show, MasterChef. Fun fact, Dino is the first ever vegan winner of the show. Naming his unique sound, “Zip Hop”, or my personal favorite, “Spaghetti Hip Hop”, Dino is ready to share with the world his other passion, composing music. So, stay tuned for his the release of his very first EP!
