Starting off as a solo project entitled “Michael’s Laundry”, Michael Gagnon joined forces with Steve Dupuis, Dominic Meilleur, and Denis Potapov to create what has now become Dirty Laundry, a rock/EDM band who launched their first ever EP entitled “Tonight” on April 2nd, 2019. Using pre-recorded beats, the EDM side to the band adds a unique and modernized touch to classic rock music. The band released their debut music video for the EP’s title track “Tonight” on March 27th, 2019.
Vocalist and bass player, Steve met Michael back in 2014 when he originally auditioned to be the bass player for another On a Roll Records band, Spacemak3r. After booking the job, Michael told his new bass player about his solo project, Michael’s Laundry. The band then continued to grow as Steve randomly ran into Denis at rock music festival, Heavy Montreal, and asked him to join the band as their new drummer. Needing a second guitar player, Steve asked close friend Dominic, who agreed to fill the role of lead guitarist. No longer being just Michael, the title “Michael’s Laundry” no longer suited the band. Thus, came the birth of the band we know today, Dirty Laundry.
Singer and bass player for Dirty Laundry, started playing bass at the age of 14, but only discovered his talent for singing later on. When Steve started playing bass, he used to listen mainly to death metal music, so much that he is no longer able to listen to those bands anymore. Some of his influences include mostly rap, metal, and EDM, which help contribute to the band’s unique sound. Steve also considers his mom as one of his biggest influences, as she was the one who taught him how to appreciate music and always encouraged him to follow his dreams.Fun fact: Steve always tells the same jokes and puns.
Drummer for Dirty Laundry, began his musical journey at the age of 12, after he and a friend joined a percussion class. His musical influences started off with nu-metal, a genre which combines heavy metal music with another musical genre such as hip hop, funk, and grunge. Denis has had the opportunity to play in multiple bands with his bandmate, Steve, prior to joining Dirty Laundry. Fun fact: Denis is from the USSR, and in the USSR, you do not have fun, the fun has you.
Dirty Laundry’s lead guitarist, has been practicing the art of guitar since the age of 4. Dominic’s musical inspirations come from his classic rock upbringing. His inspirations include bands such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Supertramp, and Jimmy Page. Having been diagnosed with tinnitus, ringing or buzzing in the ears, Dominic finds listening to music helpful when he sleeps.Fun fact: Dominic has such a bad case of ADHD, that he sometimes forgets that he even has ADHD.
Vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Dirty Laundry, started his musical journey at the age of 4, when he attended his very first concert as the bands drummer. From a young age, Michael learned to play a wide variety of instruments due to his father owning his very own music studio. Though, he only became serious with music at the age of 13 when he started writing his own songs. Michael’s musical inspirations comes from a variety of music that he has been listening to since he was born, ranging from boybands such as the Backstreet Boys to heavy metal bands like Slipknot. Fun fact: Despite being a professional drawer, Michael has terrible childlike handwriting.
